What To Do And What Not To Do When Wearing Tights
Tights can be a whole lot of fun, and we know this quite well at Hosieree.com! With tights, you can keep things classy, traditional, or whimsical, and while tights may not be on your summer fashion schedule, fall will be here before you know it! At Hosieree.com, we want to make tights something you’re comfortable with incorporating into your wardrobe, and we want to do this by outlining some important do’s and don’ts when it comes to bringing tights into your personal style!
A few do’s of wearing tights are:
- Don’t be afraid to go bold, and don’t be afraid to mix up your color. If you’re wearing an outfit made of basic or neutral tones, a bright red tight can really throw off the balance of your look but in the best possible way!
- Embracing patterns is also one thing that makes tights really fun, and you can find just about every pattern and color combination imaginable in this type of hosiery. At Hosieree.com, our high quality tights can suit all of your patterned hosiery needs, and allow you to go as bold or as demure as you please!
- Bringing accessories into your tights look is also a great way to make a fashion statement, and you can use your hosiery and accessory pieces to really complement and balance one another out. If you’re wearing bright tights, carry a bright bag or wear a bright belt, and let them pair up in ramping up your style.
A few don’ts of wearing tights are:
- You don’t want to try a messy look by going for holy or ripped up tights. While this may seem like a tempting edgy fashion choice, it will really make your look seem unclean and unbalanced. Instead, for a little texture, opt for patterned tights!
- You’ll also want to consider your hemline with bright tights, and if your skirt is on the short or mini-side, a bright pair of tights can actually take away from your look. To keep looking clean and classy, go with a neutral tight rather than something with a color pop if your hemline is showing some leg.
- With brightly colored tights, you’ll also want to refrain from the layer or mix and match, as it can cause your look to be just too busy. One big statement that is slated to be big this fall is mixing and matching multiple pairs of tights in one look, but if you should try it, only give one bold color time to shine!
At Hosieree.com, some of our favorite looks are made with tights, and we feel that this is a fashion accessory that anyone can benefit from. If you’re looking for the perfect tights to add to your collection, simply check out our stock at Hosieree.com today!
How To Wash Your Hosiery
At Hosieree.com, we get asked quite often about how to wash hosiery. Fine hosiery like the selections we offer are made to last, but like any delicate piece of clothing or accessory, incorrect washing can shorten your hosiery’s lifespan significantly. Fine hosiery differs from the hosiery you may find in plastic containers at the grocery store or drug store in that it’s made to last for quite some time, while the latter selection is really built for disposable use. With fine hosiery, proper washing must be taken care of to ensure you’re getting the maximum bang for your hosiery buck.
The first step in washing your hosiery is filling up your sink, a small basin, or the tub. Using gentle warm water, you want to hand wash your hosiery as a cycle through a washing machine will often be too rough for fine hose. After you have your water ready, it’s then time to add a bit of gentle cleanser to the water to ensure the hosiery will be thoroughly cleaned. During this step, we don’t recommend using a standard laundry detergent as it may be too harsh, but a baby shampoo, hosiery specific soap, or detergent meant for babies as well.
Once your hosiery is submerged, use your hands to work the water through your hosiery gently and thoroughly. You’ll want to make sure the water has filled and gone through the fabric of the hosiery to ensure a proper clean, and then you’ll want to allow the hosiery to soak for around 5 to 10 minutes in the water and gentle cleanser mixture. This soaking process is what will really allow your hosiery to get a complete clean, and the right gentle cleanser will allow your hosiery to be cleaned without facing damage or deterioration.
Once the soaking period is finished, squeeze the water from your hose, but never wring them out. Wringing out wet hosiery like you’d ring out a towel or other article of clothing can actually break the fibers of the hose, so a gentle squeeze is really all that is necessary. Once they’re squeezed out, rinse the cleanser by gentling passing the hosiery through cool running water, and finish off by laying them into a towel. With the towel, don’t roll or twist the hosiery, but press the towel with some force to allow the excess moisture to be absorbed, then hang the hosiery on a rack with the towel to allow for a complete air dry.
At Hosieree.com, we want your fine hosiery to last the life you want, and this can only be done by washing your hosiery properly. If you’re in the market for new hosiery that you can make last a lifetime, simply check us out at Hosieree.com today!
Organizing Your Hosiery Collection
With so many different types of hosiery out there, and so many different types suited for different occasions, organizing hosiery can quickly become something of a must-do. At Hosieree.com, we have fine hose of all shapes, sizes, colors, and makes, and we also know how difficult it can be to keep vast hosiery collections organized in a way that keeps them protected and easy to find when you need them. When it comes to organizing hosiery, keep both the ease of use and the protection aspects in mind, and you can always reach for just what you need and just when you need it!
The first step in organizing your hosiery is keeping it safe while it’s stored, and we’ve found that one of the best ways to do this is to keep your fine hosiery in its original packaging as a means of storage. What this will do is allow too much oxygen to be kept from direct exposure to your hosiery, slowing the oxidization process, as well as let you know just what hosiery you’re reaching for exactly when you’re looking for a specific pair. Another benefit is that this method keeps dust from your hosiery directly, and this can keep your clean hosiery fresher for longer during periods of being out of use.
When it comes to organization, there are several different methods you can use. One that we really love at Hosieree.com is the use of a filing cabinet in organizing hosiery, and filing your hose by season, occasion, or use frequency. You can choose separate areas for your winter hose, your summer hose, your formal hose, or any other use you may have in mind, and you can always know just where to look when you require a specific pair. Another similar method is to use small shelving units built into a closet or plastic and portable, and to store your packaged and folded hosiery in different sections so you can grab and go!
At Hosieree.com, we want you to have the very best experience possible with your fine hosiery, and we know that this can get tough as your collection grows and grows! By keeping your hosiery in its package, and stored in an organized fashion, you’ll have a collection you can reach for time and time again without worry of damage or settling for not the right pair!
4 Tips On Wearing Thigh Highs
We have plenty of thigh high hosiery pieces to choose from at Hosieree.com, but we find that many women are a little intimidated by wearing thigh highs outside of the bedroom. While thigh high hosiery can really pull together a sexy lingerie-type outfit, this isn’t the only type of ensemble that can benefit from a sleek pair of thigh highs, and we want to give you a few more ideas when it comes to working this look into your everyday! 4 tips on wearing thigh highs are:
- Make them boho-chic – The boho chic look so trendy this spring and summer, as well as last spring and summer, can be enhanced a hundredfold by a pair of thigh high hose. Without a garter belt, try pairing your thigh highs with a mini-jumper type dress, and incorporate a floppy or sun type hat in the same color as your hosiery. What this does is tone down your super short hemline, while still keeping things sexy, and it turns your thigh highs into your most stand-out accessory!
- Give your summer romper a way to change seasons – Rompers are super chic this summer, but thigh highs give you a way to bring the look into fall. By pairing fall-friendly thigh highs, the opaque kind made of a cool weather fabric like wool, with a romper, you can take your favorite summer outfit and bring it into the fall season. Our perfect pick for this look is using our Wool Stay Up Stockings Jennifer sans garter belt!
- Go for texture – With a plain skirt, textured thigh highs can really bring the attention to your legs while adding a little something fun to your overall look. Particularly in the fall, try pairing a fall-color skater skirt with a pair of textured thigh highs like our Carillon Thigh High Stockings.
- Work in layers – Thigh highs can also be worked into a layered look, and this also works really well with textured thigh highs. For a really fun and quirky layered look, pair a short skirt or a pair of shorts with first a colored pair of fashion tights, like our Cortina 40 Semi-Opaque Tights in Bright Colors, and layer a textured look on top with a thigh high like our Carillon Thigh High Stockings or Fiore Azalia Thigh High Stockings. With other layered elements like a cardigan or jacket, this can complete your layered look like you never quite expected!
At Hosieree.com, we know how awesome a pair of thigh highs can be with any sort of look, and we don’t want you to shy away from bringing this look into your fashion repertoire! To see all the thigh highs you can play with in your ensemble arsenal, simply check out what we have in stock today at Hosieree.com!
Knowing When To Go Sheer Or Opaque
When it comes to hosiery, there are two main color types with sheer and opaque. Sheer hosiery is the type of hosiery that will give you the most natural look, as their sheer nature allows the beauty of your natural skin to show through. Opaque hosiery, however, is what you’re going to be looking for if you want to incorporate colors or work hosiery into your fall or winter look. There are many ways to wear either type of hosiery, but to know when to wear which is important to sporting your hosiery in the best possible way!
One of the easiest ways to know when to go sheer or opaque is to look at the season. Although these are guidelines to go by, they’re not exclusive, but it’s a nice easy place to start! During the summer months, you’ll want to lean towards sheer tights for most of your looks, although opaque looks can be worked in as well. If you’re attending a wedding, for instance, and you want to bring hosiery into your look, you’ll want to lean towards sheer hosiery to keep your look summery and your temperature cool!
For the cooler months, opaque hosiery will not only give your look a fun edge, but it will keep you warm as well. Opaque hosiery is thicker than sheer hosiery, so it can allow you to wear skirts and other leg baring wardrobe pieces during the cooler months without worrying about becoming too cool. For fall and winter, try bringing in colored opaque tights to really spice it up!
Another way to know whether to go sheer or opaque is by looking at your hemline. If your hemline is shorter, you may want to go with opaque hosiery, as this will make your look a little more modest without putting a damper on your sex appeal. For miniskirts especially, an opaque tight can make your skirt work for just about any occasion. If your hemline is longer, however, you’ll want to go sheer, as the opaque option will make things a little too modest! An opaque tight with a longer skirt can give the impression of layers over layers, and this is something you’ll want to avoid if you’re trying to keep your outfit sexy and streamlined.
At Hoseriee.com, we have sheer and opaque hosiery of all kinds, so there is always a little something to go with any ensemble. To see what options may be best for you, check out what we have in store at Hosieree.com today!
