February’s New York Fashion Week showed some pretty exciting hosiery trends gearing up to make their transition from runways to walkways in fall and winter of 2018. Several big name designers incorporated hosiery into their looks, and did so both in ways that were fresh and carried over from previous seasons. What was really exciting was that it provided new ways to use classic hosiery pieces that you may have already incorporated into your wardrobe, or have been waiting for the inspiration to do so.
One very chic look that was spotted at Tom Ford’s showing was statement hosiery being paired with sling-back kitten heels, particularly edgy fishnet styles. What we really loved about this trend was that it was one that could really take place anywhere, and it could work just as well with a more conservative pair of fishnet hose in the office, while a statement pair creates a great look for a girls’ night out. For an office appropriate look, pair a sling back kitten heel with hosiery like our Carmen Small Fishnet Tights, and for something edgier, try bringing the look together with a shorter skirt and our Jujube Wide Fishnet Tights.
Tom Ford wasn’t the only one making a hosiery-heavy impression at Fashion Week, and Alexander Wang’s fall/winter 2018 show really placed hosiery in a priority position as well. For the Alexander Wang show, office-inspired looks were accompanied by sheer black hosiery or embellished black hosiery. Sheer black patterned hosiery is something that we’ve seen quite a bit in the past few years, and this show really emphasized how well this style of hosiery works with office or professional-inspired attire. Our Amy Fashion Micro Tulle Pantyhose are the perfect example of such a pair of hose, and it’s easy to see how they can mesh right into office attire without much effort.
Lastly, the Anna Sui show emphasized something totally different in hosiery when compared to the sleek black looks of Alexander Wang and Tom Ford. The Bohemian inspired looks at the Anna Sui show were all accented by textured, sheer, and opaque colored hosiery pieces in bright shades like orange, yellow, and red. Our Classic Opaque Tights Freedom in shades like Abricot, Baccus, or Seychelles is perfect for playing with these free spirited looks in your own wardrobe.

Hosiery we often wear should always be in good taste. Never attempt to make do with nylons or pantyhose with snags runs, stains or reinforced toes and open toe sandals. Sheer pantyhose that are close to your skin tone is preferred. If you want to try all sheer to the waist pantyhose I suggest that you are demure enough to ensure a measure of coverage where you are expected not to be showing to much where it counts.
