Breaking Down The Top Tights Trends Of 2020

Breaking Down The Top Tights Trends Of 2020

2020 has just begun, and the latest and greatest tights trends of the year are rolling in! When it comes to tights, winter is really your time to shine, but you can wear even your most opaque tights well into the spring with all of your favorite springtime outfits. If you’re gearing up to ready your tights wardrobe, a few picks we suggest prioritizing are:

  • Polka dot tights – Polka dots are expected to be absolutely massive in the fashion world in 2020, and there is no better place to embrace this trend than through hosiery. Polka dot tights can be used to make pattern-mixing seamless, to add a little flair to business wear, to add whimsical sexiness to a date night outfit, or to wear with tailored shorts to bring your favorite summer pieces into the cooler weather seasons. When pattern mixing, you can pair a small polka dot tight with a larger polka dot pattern, you can mix with striped looks, and you can do the classic pairing of polka dot tights with florals.
  • Decked out in diamonds – 2020 isn’t about the diamonds on your finger, your wrist, or your neck, it’s all about the diamonds on your legs! One huge trend we’re really loving for the new year is diamond patterned tights, which can be found textured, in diamond pattern plaids, and in diamond shaped embellishments. With florals or with sleek sophisticated looks, diamond pattern tights bring out a certain versatile retro-vintage appeal.
  • Bright colors – Color is going nowhere in terms of tights, and this year is screaming brighter is better. A throwback vintage appeal seems to be a trend across the board, with this look harking back to the mod-style of the late 1960’s. Opaque brightly colored tights are accenting mini-skirts or mini-shorts, bringing out colors in patterned tops, and meeting at the ankle with a delightful chunky bootie. Invest in brightly colored tights and get ready to perfect that eyeliner wing to really embrace the quirky fun of 2020.
  • Leopard goes nowhere – 2019 was really big on leopard prints, and this is a trend that is rolling right over into this year. If you haven’t invested in a great pair of leopard tights yet, the good news is it’s not too late.

At Hosieree.com, we want to help you to embrace all of the hosiery trends of the new year. If you’re looking for the perfect pair to accent all of your 2020 styles, see what we have in store at Hosieree.com today!

Hosiery History: Understanding Why They’re Not Yet History in Fashion

Hosiery History: Understanding Why They’re Not Yet History in Fashion

When one thinks of hosiery, it’s easy to picture an empowered woman who knows how to rock patterned or sheer hosiery while looking like an ever-classy lady. Some may even picture women from earlier centuries who wear hosiery underneath their long skirts.

Hosiery as a fashion statement has come a long way. It has evolved through many styles and materials. And while we at Hosieree.com carry brands that offer only the best quality hosiery, it’s good to look back and see where this fashion statement started.

The Evolution of Hosiery

Hosiery dates back to as far as the 9th century, where the crudest of materials—including gut strands to act as suspenders—were used. This evolved to woven stockings, knitted pairs, and synthetic yarns.

As the material evolved, so did the use of hosiery. Did you know that in the earlier centuries, men also wore hosiery? While it might be a sight to imagine men in tights or lacy hosiery, they actually wore it even before women did!

Hosiery was even used as a way to distinguish between social classes. This is because the members of the upper class would wear white or colored stockings, while those from the lower class will wear black. Considering the nature of work that the lower-class citizens had to do, this difference in hosiery colors made sense.

From Panti-Legs to Pantyhose

Even the pantyhose has an interesting back story. According to records, Allen E. Gant supposedly first created the pantyhose in 1959 for his wife, Ethel Boone Gant. Ethel was pregnant, and had a hard time going on trips because women were expected to wear thigh-high stockings, girdle, and garter, which did not sit well with pregnancy.

Gant got to work sewing stockings onto panties, which his wife was able to use. Gant took these to a clothing mill and created better prototypes that finally churned out the pantyhose that we know today.

Politics of Pantyhose

There was also a time in hosiery’s history that it became a statement for women. As the fashion industry saw an overall revolution, bare legs also seemed to embody freedom and comfort. Perhaps the issue was more in the expectations from women regarding fashion more than the dislike for pantyhose.

Nowadays, hosiery has become a part of women’s fashion. Some use it as part of their uniforms and outfits for the daily grind. Others wear it as an expression of themselves and their fashion sense.

The beauty of hosiery is that, despite the fluctuations of use and perspective on these undergarments, it has evolved with the times. Now, it is more common to see colored tights or lacey stockings as part of one’s fashion statement, proof that hosiery is here to stay.

Hosieree carries a number of brands and hosiery styles that you can choose from. Check out the website for more styles, and add some spice and texture to your everyday wardrobe with the right hosiery garment for you.

Do’s and Don’ts of Lace Tights

Lace adds a touch of sexiness to any wardrobe. However, it takes a good eye to make sure you strike a balance between hot and not, and don’t go overboard.

If you want to take the lace game out of the bedroom and into your everyday outfits, here are practical and easy ways to do so. Incorporate a touch of femme fatale and still be work-appropriate, so you can take office wear to the next level.

Go For Fine Textures

Conservative workplaces may force you to switch your finer tastes for sensible shoes. The good thing about lace tights is that they add a touch of sexy and conservative, so long as you pick the right texture.

For offices, it’s best to go with subtle and fine textures. These go well with solid colors and power dresses. Finer styles ensure that they add sexy but do not scream for attention, and won’t have HR sending you a memo on appropriate outfits.

Be Careful of Color

There are no hard or fast rules when it comes to dressing with splashes of color as long as you know the complements with the contrasts and make them work to your advantage. However, when it comes to tights and hosiery, it may be better to stick with colors that complement so your legs will not stand out too much to break the composition of your OOTD.

If you prefer clashing colors on your outfits, up your shade game and distinguish which shade of two clashing colors works best. While vivid yellow and bright violet can bring an abstract vibe to your outfit, picking mustard yellow and a darker violet would hold a more sophisticated shade.

Make your knowledge of color work to your advantage when picking out your next pair of textured tights.

Pick the Right Hemline

A common short girl problem is whether textured tights would look great on them. The long-legged are blessed because they can showcase nice lace tights and make the pattern work to make their legs even longer and slimmer.

The same can work for any petite women as long as you pick the right hemline for your dress or skirt. Try to pair a nicely designed pair of tights with a hemline that shows off your legs. The good thing about pairing tights with skirts is that even if you go for a shorter length, you can still go for a coy but conservative look with the right pair of tights.

Knowing the right pair of pumps or kickers also does the trick. Sometimes, it can work with boots, but if you pair plain dresses or skirts with textured tights, to break the monotonous pattern. Opting for pumps gives the slight advantage of letting the texture of the tights speak for itself and highlight your gams.

Hoiseree holds a wide array of textured lace tights. Check out which design works well with your daily office or date outfits, and try on a pair.

Go Classy for Classics: Pairing Classy Hosiery with Classic Blue Outfits

Go Classy for Classics: Pairing Classy Hosiery with Classic Blue Outfits

The year 2020’s pantone color of the year is classic blue. As fashion and design goes back to the classics, this is a nice time to explore your style in the same direction.

Whip out some of your classic blue outfits or add touches of blue to your wardrobe that will keep you on trend for the coming season. Best of all, classic blue can be a regal but also playful color—and what better way to up the ante than adding the classy classic hosiery to finish your outfits?

Check out these three ways to wear blue outfits with hosiery for next year’s fashion season.

Classic and Formal Wear

Just because bare legs at cocktail parties are already on-trend does not mean you cannot bring back the appeal of pantyhose at the next formal gathering. Tights can give a dash of oomph to your outfit, especially when paired with a darker shade of blue for your dress.

This works particularly for evening events, as a pair of black pantyhose with a dress gives it a more formal vibe, and elevates the mini dress into a fabulous and fancy affair.

The Classic Office On-trend Look

Who says dresses can’t be power suits? Unleash your stylish femme fatale by pairing classic black tights with blue dresses or skirts in the office. Tights can that one factor that transforms a look from boring to business in one fell swoop.

There are two ways to go about this. You can opt for neutral tights, which will create a smooth, matte finish for your gams and highlight a classic blue outfit. Another way is to create a slight contrast with black tights and pumps paired with a blue dress or a power suit with a pencil skirt, if you really, really mean business as usual.

The Playful Navy Dress

The navy dress can be a Sunday wear or an after-office stylish look. You can pull off both looks by pairing the right type of hosiery with the dress on each occasion.

Colored tights can bring a playful contrast, whether you opt for a burgundy pair or a classic white or cream combo. The former will have a very trendy look, while the latter has a touch of a classic sailor look.

Lace tights also work wonders with a navy dress. Pair a plain navy one piece with textured lace tights and finish it off with sleek black pumps for a party-ready look.

How to Rock the Formal Wear With Hosiery

How to Rock the Formal Wear With Hosiery

Attending a wedding but don’t feel like buying a new cocktail dress? You’re not alone in this issue! We understand the importance of always looking your best but also balancing your expenses when it comes to having a perfect wedding attire.

Instead of buying a new dress to wear, why not focus on wearing an old dress differently? One way to spice up your formal wear is to add hosiery to the overall look. Check out these three tips which can help tide you and your old trusty black cocktail dress over for your next formal event.

Cocktails and Prints

A staple approach to wearing hosiery with cocktail dresses is to have either black tights or textured tights. This gives that little black dress an extra oomph for style.

For the more practical ones, pairing black tights with a dress also acts as a safety blanket. No need to worry about that updraft, if you have a nice pantyhose.

When wearing a cocktail dress, try to experiment with lacy tights or a textured hosiery. With the right design, you can teeter the border between edgy and sexy—and this is a nice combo you may want to aim for.

Fashion Fit For a Princess

Ever looked at Princess Kate Middleton and think that she looks unbelievably classy in whatever she wears? A great fashion sense may be a big part of it, but one reason that contributes to it is her preference for nude pantyhose.

While it takes some guts and style to pull off royalty fashion, it is possible, as long as you understand when to use it and how to pair it well with your outfit. Nude pantyhose is a nice touch that could keep your legs warm without interfering with your fashion sensibilities. Just remember to try and keep it as close to your skin tone, especially for a more formal ensemble.

Tights and Pantyhose with Open-Toed Shoes?

In fashion, hosiery is meant to give outfits a fun twist, especially the lacy and textured styles. However, you may have to deal with the age-old fashion debate: do I wear tights or pantyhose with open-toed shoes or not?

The verdict lies more with your fashion taste and the occasion. There are some cases when this combination would be off, particularly when using nude color options. Unless you are using pantyhose for practical purposes, including protection from cold temperature or a good cover for varicose veins, it may be a good idea to skip the nude hosiery if you’re rocking an open-toed kicker.

However, colored pantyhose is a different matter. If your style is edgy—think of an all-red ensemble paired with a black pantyhose—then this can definitely work.

How to Wear Tights With Different Shoe Styles

How to Wear Tights With Different Shoe Styles

How many types of shoes do you have in your wardrobe? Between heels and boots, you probably have at least five different shoe types. You might be surprised that you can actually wear all of them with your favorite tights, if you only know how to mix them together in a chic yet seamless manner.

Read on to know how you can make the most of both your shoes and tights!

1. Tights With Heels

If you have some plain high heels, you can pair them dark tights with a wee bit of shimmer, like our Diamond Shimmering Fashion Tights. If your heels are textured, such as suede, you can opt for a flat or semi-opaque pair, like our Cortina 40- Semi-Opaque Tights in Bright Colors.

2. Tights With Mary Janes

Mary Jane shoes are not only cute. They also provide extra security. They are also great for any occasion and setting, whether for formal events or a normal day at the office.

If you’re wearing your Mary Janes, make sure you choose a pair of tights that’s within the same color palette as your shoes. For instance, if you have a glossy black pair of Mary Jane shoes, you can wear a pair of gray tights with it, such as our Arctic 500 Microfiber Tights in Grey. You can also go for a black sheer one, such as these Intrigante Tulle Thigh Highs.

3. Tights With Open-Toes

If you think that you couldn’t wear tights and open-toe shoes together, think again. One of the best ways to wear open-toe shoes with tights is to choose a pair of thick, opaque tights that’s a shade lighter than your shoes. This way, your toes will still show, albeit covered.

For example, if you’re wearing black open-toe heels, pair it with a dark-smoke thick tights, such as our Bellissima K2 300 Den 3D Microfiber Tights.

4. Tights With Boots

Whether you’re wearing your tights with ankle, knee-high, or thigh-high boots, the key is to ensure contrast in terms of texture. If you’re wearing glossy boots, then you should opt for matte, opaque tights. It’s best to go for plain tights, so that your ensemble won’t be too much to the eyes. Our Cortina 100- 3D Opaque Tights are sure to do the job right.

By the way, it’s not only the shoes that you should look at when planning your outfit. You should also make sure that your top or dress goes well with your tights and shoes.

How to Properly Care for Fine Hosiery

How to Properly Care for Fine Hosiery

Tights, leggings, pantyhose, and stockings are some of the essential clothing pieces for cold weather. They are particularly helpful in creating a layered ensemble that’s not only warm and comfortable, but chic and stylish, too.

You surely love your Hosierre.com hosiery and we know that you want to make them last. Since you’re likely to find yourself using them more often this season, we thought we’d share with you some essential care and maintenance tips that will help you enjoy your treasured hosiery longer.

1. Know when and how to wash.

Let’s make this clear: you don’t have to wash your hosiery after every wear. If they don’t get soiled, you can wear them up to three times before washing. This is particularly the case during winter, when you don’t really sweat a lot.

Think about your tights and leggings as though they are pants. Let’s be real here. How often do you wash your pants and jeans, really?

For hosiery, the less you wash, the better, because they will last longer. As long as they don’t smell and they aren’t stained, you can wear them one or two times more before washing.

Furthermore, you should know how to wash them properly. Here at Hosierre.com, we recommend hand washing and refrain from wringing them. Simply hang them by the band to make sure that they retain their shape.

2. Know how to handle them.

Fine hosiery is delicate and you need to handle and wear them with as much care as possible. When handling and wearing your hosiery, make sure your toe and fingernails do not have rough edges. It’s also best to remove jewelry before wearing tights, stocking, or pantyhose. Make sure you remove them with care, too.

3. Know how to store them.

Hosiery are not like school socks that you can roll into a ball. Fold your hosiery in half, with one leg over the other. Then, fold in half once more before putting them neatly in a drawer. Storing hosiery this way will help preserve the fibers.

Fun and Chic Ways to Wear Tights This Coming Holidays

Fun and Chic Ways to Wear Tights This Coming Holidays

This coming holiday season, you will probably go to a number of gatherings and parties. You don’t have to stress yourself out thinking about what to wear each time you’re going out. With the right bottoms, mixing and matching will be a breeze!

Many think that leggings and tights are too casual to wear to events, but there’s actually a lot of ways you can make it fun and chic. Here are five classy and easy ways to wear leggings and tights this coming holiday.

1. Go Metallic

Match a winter legging, like our 3D Winter Leggings with a sparkly, metallic tunic. It’s best if you’d go monochromatic, with the sparkly and metallic fibers of your top serving as the highlight of your outfit. You can finish your look with an equally captivating dangling or chandelier earrings, and knee-high suede boots from the same color palette. A velvet bag will also go well with this look.

2. The Classic White Shirt

A pair of leggings such as our Bellissima Leggings Push Up With Modeling Effect will go well with a crisp white shirt, preferably one that rests at the hip. Then, spice up your look with some holiday-themed accessories. Think red and gold drop earrings and a shiny red handbag.

3. From Dress to Top

Do you have a festive-colored dress that’s too short to be worn on a winter day? Get it out of the closet and wear it with a glossy pair of tights like our Black Brilliant Tights. Essentially, you’re turning the dress into a tunic and you won’t have to wait for summer to wear it. Grab some suede booties to mix up the textures of your outfit.

4. Cozy Up in a Sweater

Just because it’s cold out and you can’t go out without a sweater doesn’t mean you can’t be chic and fab. For instance, you can pair our Artica 120 Tights in Wool and Cotton with your favorite turtleneck sweater. If you’re still feeling cold, a pair of knee-high boots can add extra warmth. Make sure you accessorize with statement earrings.

Are You Putting On Your Hosiery Correctly?

Are You Putting On Your Hosiery Correctly?

Even the best made European hosiery will have a certain delicate nature to it. Even when it’s built to last, the wrong care of your hosiery can leave you with holes, runs, and pilling along the surface of the nylon. At Hosieree.com, we want you to get the very best out of your hosiery, and we know that this starts with just how you put your hosiery on. For many who find they run through hosiery too often, they don’t realize that their method of putting on their hosiery could be contributing to their problem in a major way.

The process of putting on your hosiery starts long before you even pull your hose out from your drawer. Ideally, you’ll prepare your hands, legs, and feet before each time you put on your hose. Split or jagged nails, rough skin, and jewelry can all snag on your hosiery and cause the materials to break down. Before ever putting on your hose, make sure your nails are taken care of, your jewelry taken off, your legs moisturized, and your skin exfoliated to ensure your hosiery has nothing to snag onto.

Next, you’ll want to put your hosiery in a front-forward position. With hosiery in the right position, you’re ready to gather one leg with your hands until you reach the toe of the hosiery. Hold the waist gently, and use your fingers to slowly bunch the hosiery until your thumbs reach the toe area. Once bunched, insert your foot into the toe portion and allow the hosiery to un-bunch as you draw it up your leg. Once you reach just above the knee, stop pulling the hosiery up and begin the process on the other leg.

After your legs are covered, you should have enough material left over to easily pull the hosiery up to your waist. You may have to make some adjustments to ensure there are no twists or bunches in your hosiery, and these should be done carefully as not to put unnecessary stress on the fabric.

When you put on your hosiery the right way, you’re completing the first necessary step to ensuring you’re taking the best possible care of your hose. For more on hosiery care, or finding that perfect pair, contact us at Hosieree.com today.
