When looking at the hosiery trends for fall 2017, we’re seeing two very distinct trends topping the fashion charts. The first is a sort of “peekaboo” hosiery trend that pairs hose with shorts and crop pants, and the second is patterned hosiery. The shorts and hosiery trend has been in fashion for several fall seasons now, but the difference we’re seeing for 2017 is that you’re also seeing hosiery as a compliment to everything from a tailored crop pant or chino to casual cuffed boyfriend jeans.

The pairing of hosiery with boyfriend jeans is something quite new, and it’s a trend that can seem a bit intimidating simply due to how different it is. These loose fitting casual jeans typically have a distressed appeal with rips and tears, and cuff at around the high ankle, giving them a look that many naturally think to pair with other casuals like a loose fit button down or slouchy tee. When these pants are paired with patterned hosiery underneath, allowing the pattern to peek out in the distressed rips and at the ankle, it suddenly opens up the jeans to pair with much more tailored tops.
