Funk It Up In February

Funk It Up In FebruaryIt’s February. Again. It comes every year, whether we like it or not. The two best things about February are:

1) Valentine’s Day, because chocolate that comes in heart-shaped boxes are welcome in our world any time of the year.

2) The fact that it’s a short winter month, even during leap year.

After February comes March, and with March comes spring! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. When it comes to the grey, dreary days of February, there’s only one thing you can do to boost your spirits and make it to spring without being bored to death; add some color and funk it up!

Color Your World

Adding color to your world is one way to battle the grey days and early nights or February. Greys, navy blues, and even blacks are the colors that most represent the winter months. We put away our beachy turquoise and corals, and set aside the pastels. But there are a few things you can do to make your wardrobe pop with adventure until you can drag all of your spring clothes back out of storage.

  • Find a colorful scarf. You can get one that is functional and warm, like a thick wooly blend, or wear a light nylon-rayon that offers a bright bit of color. Whatever the material, just be sure it’s bright. A matching hat can’t hurt too much, either.
  • Be neutral. This may sound funny, but it’s true. Light-toned neutrals will brighten up any dark outfit without being too overwhelming. Think a light beige sweater with your chocolate brown skirt, or a light pastel-blue blouse under your navy power suit.
  • Make up mash up. Wines and plums are winter-perfect, but it’s been a long winter, so why not lighten up a bit? Don’t go overboard with your make up switch just yet, but why not skip the raisin-toned lipstick and go for a bright pink? Or, say be gone to the bronze eyes and try a teal eyeliner that shows you’re thinking of beachy days to come.
  • Let your legs do the talking. This is one of the best ways to stay funky and bright as there are about a million options for colorful legwear out there. And you can pretty much get away with anything, even in the workplace. Freedom Classic tights in Abricot (a funky, bold orange) can make you think of hot sunset nights, while Sophie 70 opaque tights in Accua (blue with a hint of turquoise, reminiscent of the sea) will have you planning your summer vacation.

Whatever you do to make your winter go faster, do it in style. Be that girl who dares to defy the drab, grey days. 1. The Sophie 70 opaque tights even though I haven’t tried them yet very nice color selection by Trasparenze have others by this brand have never been disappointed with this brand. There are other brands just as good as they say you get what you pay for. Have Trasparenze, Pretty Polly, CDR, Fiore, Gipsy to mention a few.

  2. Let our legs speak and for that nothing of such as to display in Wolford and equally valid for man

  3. With all my hosiery of colors and styles in many different brands I could funk up a look for sure
