Terrific Tights But Terrible Shoes? Avoid the Faux Pas

Terrific Tights But Terrible Shoes? Avoid the Faux Pas

It’s tough to imagine feeling so free in something whose name indicates constriction.  Tights are a contradiction in fashion; they fit tight-to-the-skin, but they feel so good on your body and give you a feeling of utter relaxation.

One problem that many women have when it comes to wearing tights is what kind of footwear to choose. Sure, flats go with almost anything, but do you really want to wear a pair of flats to every occasion? We’ve gathered together some of the best shoe-tight suggestions out there and compiled them into a list so that you won’t have to worry about how to mix it up; just go for it!

  • Matchy-matchy.  One rule of the shoe-tight combination is this: be sure that at least two components of your outfit match.  Such as, a red sweater, black tights, and red shoes.  Or, a cornflower blue dress, matching tights, and dove gray boots.  Don’t pair too many colors, no matter how good you think it looks; it doesn’t.  Remember the rule of two’s and you’ll always be in style.
  • Shades of color. If you love colored tights, and who doesn’t (Cazzola Gaetano fashion tights in purple? Yes, please!), stick with shoes that are the same color, or lighter, than your tights. Pick a lighter lavender to go with those purple tights. Or, burgundy flats with rose colored-tights.  This will keep you looking smart and fashionable.
  • Long line. Maximize length of your legs, even if they are short, by pairing ankle boots or pumps with tights that are the same color.  If you break up the color scheme at the ankles, you’ll actually make your legs look shorter, and no one wants that.
  • Skip sandals. Yes, the weather is warming up and we know that you’re dying to pack away the boots and bring out the sandals, but save them for another outfit.  With tights, the open-toe of the shoe lets the reinforced toe of the sandal poke out gaudily. If you must wear an open toe, try a pump and a ditch the reinforced-toe tight; it just might work.

So there you have it, a few tight-tips that are really easy to follow and will keep you looking amazing. There’s a pair of tights for every season and every reason, and at hosieree.com, we’ve got them all.  From basic black to fun colors that fit your mood.  Shop now to get a head start on your comfy wardrobe that’s anything but confining; and your shoes will thank you.
